HUBER SeptiMem® para el tratamiento descentralizado de aguas residuales en edificios residenciales
We upgrade septic tanks to full-biological treatment plants.
Septic tanks are the conventional standard solution for decentralized wastewater treatment at residential and other buildings with up to 50 inhabitants. However, their effluent still contains high BOD and COD freights, and most of the N and P nutrients. The remaining pollution is only insufficiently reduced in drain fields. Systematic groundwater contamination is the result. Simple septic tanks are no longer permitted in Germany; only small treatment plants with a biological treatment stage may be installed. Existing septic tanks must be replaced or retrofitted for biological treatment.
Several years ago we developed our HUBER Solution SeptiMem®. By insertion of a compact membrane filter, of our HUBER MembraneClearBox® (MCB), into the last chamber we generate a membrane bio-reactor (MBR). The MCB retains all solids and bacteria. Our MCB also supplies oxygen to the activated sludge, growing in the last chamber, by diffusion of air.

The permeate effluent is of outstanding quality, in compliance with the European Bathing Water Directive, can be discharged even into very sensitive receiving waters, or reused as service water (see also our HUBER Solutions for Wastewater Reuse).
As before, septic sludge is evacuated in one to three year intervals and hauled to a central treatment plant (see our HUBER Solutions Septic Sludge Treatment at central wastewater treatment plants and SeptageTreat® for separate treatment).
